TSUNAMI BOMB
Formed in the late 1990s in Northern California, Tsunami Bomb emerged as one of the most distinctive voices of that era. Fusing razor-sharp lyrics, melodic hooks, and an unapologetically bold sound that utilized both keyboards as a lead instrument, and dual female vocals that set them apart from the rest of their peers. Their sound blended classic punk ferocity with pop sensibility, goth-tinged atmosphere, and riot-grrrl-inspired defiance, earning them a devoted global following.
Early releases like The Invasion from Within! and relentless touring helped establish Tsunami Bomb as a vital force in underground music, while 2002’s The Ultimate Escape on Kung Fu Records broadened their reach and the band became a staple of festivals like the Vans Warped Tour. Rolling Stone Magazine would later name it one of the Top 50 pop punk albums of all time. After years of lineup changes and a long hiatus, Tsunami Bomb re-emerged reinvented at the end of 2015, with renewed focus and sharpened intent. The band featured the return of founding members Dominic Davi on bass, Oobliette Sparks on keyboards and vocals, and Gabriel Lindman on drums, with Kate Jacobi taking over main vocals along with Andy Pohl on guitar, they blazed ahead with new music, a renewed spirit, and a growing fanbase new wave of fans discovered Tsunami Bomb.
Their critically acclaimed 2019 album, The Spine That Binds released on Alternative Tentacles Records helped reaffirm the band’s relevance, pairing the urgency and melodic bite they’re known for with a deeper emotional weight and lived-in perspective. Showcasing their unique blend of post-hardcore bite, synth-laced moodiness, and anthemic sing-along punk hooks. Since then, Tsunami Bomb have continued to bring their high energy live show to audiences across the U.S. and Europe.
Coming into 2026, Tsunami Bomb paired up with one of their favorite East Bay punk bands, Hammerbombs to make a split E.P. Bombs Away! on Dayton, Ohio based Rad Girlfriend Records. A nod to the classic B.Y.O. Records split series, the 6 song EP has the bands covering two of each other’s songs with a one original. The physical 4 song 7” already having sold through its first pressing, and another planned 7” release on the way with Alternative Tentacles Records, it’s clear that this wave of Tsunami Bomb shows no signs of breaking.
Nearly three decades on, Tsunami Bomb remains a band that refuses stagnation or easy labels. Fiercely independent, politically aware, and emotionally resonant, they continue to speak to outsiders, misfits, and anyone who believes that punk rock is a living, breathing act of defiance.
