THE FEST 23 WAS A ROLLERCOASTER

As reported in many places, after our first show on Friday night at The Fest 23 in Gainesville, FL (which was an INCREDIBLE SHOW!!!) our bassist Dominic felt a bit strange, and the next morning his Apple Watch registered his heart rate had soared to dangerous levels while he slept and he was showing signs of possible Afib.

He went to the hospital and was admitted immediately for signs of a Cardiac Event. He was in the hospital for the rest of the weekend and was discharged on Monday in time to head home. It did mean he spent FEST in the hospital. =(

We are happy to state that he is okay and after follow ups with his Cardiologist, it would appear he is in good shape. The Cardiac Event wasn’t quite a heart attack, and appears to. have been caused by a combination of lack of sleep, too much sun, not enough water or food, and only drinking energy drinks (and a few chips).

A remA

A reminder to us all to drink water and get rest. Dominic has let us know since coming home he’s been working out and working on getting healthier. Which is good because we have had one too many health scares from this guy over the last few years!

With Dominic’s blessing and encouragement, we were able to play our second show on Saturday night at the Wooly with the help of Matt Diamant from The Hammerbombs, The Rinds, and Loud Graves filling in on bass. Thank you so much to Matt for rallying and learning the songs so fast. Please check out his incredible other bands (Dominic is in Loud Graves too)

A huge thank you to all of you for your support and care, both shows were just incredible and while we were so stressed going into the second show at the Wooly on Saturday, you all made that so much fun.

Did you catch Kate and Oobliette singing Alkaline Trio’s “Private Eye” with Devon Kay and The Solutions? It was amazing!

Thank you to everyone and Dominic promises to take better care of himself.
