An update to the status of Tsunami Bomb

As you all know, we recently had to cancel our planned run of shows in the Pacific Northwest at the last minute. We want to provide an expanded explanation of what’s going on and share the status of Tsunami Bomb, while doing our best to respect the privacy of everyone involved.

On the day of our first show of the run while some of us were already in Portland or on our way there, we received a text from our vocalist, Kate Jacobi, letting us know she would not be able to continue with Tsunami Bomb, effective immediately for however long. It was implied that this was a serious situation. Beyond that, we were given no further details, and we have no further explanation.

We were completely blindsided and, frankly, devastated. We made a statement as best we could at the time, trying to explain the situation as we understood it while scrambling to figure out what to do about the now canceled run of shows. All we knew for sure was that it’s clearly a serious situation and Kate will need to put all her energy into that. We honestly and truly hope she is okay.

We want to once again specifically thank the promoters, venues, their staff, and all the bands we were set to perform with for their incredible patience and understanding. We know this threw a massive wrench into everything.

This band means everything to us, and we have spent the last 10 years building something we truly love with Kate. Right now, we honestly don’t know what moving forward looks like with the four of us, 3 of whom have weathered many, many changes since the band’s inception. Because of that, we are hesitant to make any announcements about what the future of Tsunami Bomb may be.

We have music we’ve written that we believe in and care deeply about. We also have some incredible shows lined up, including some we were especially excited about around Halloween, and it’s completely crushing to say those might not happen.

What we do know is this: we love this band and its legacy, and we would never want to do anything that compromises what it has meant to us or to you. We did not take coming back in 2015 lightly, and we don’t want to do anything to jeopardize Tsunami Bomb. We will be taking some time to consider what the best way forward might be, and we will update you all as soon as we can.

Thank you for coming to our shows, singing along with us, for the hugs, the laughter, and all the support. Being part of Tsunami Bomb has been more than just being in a band for all of us. Thank you for giving us another chance over the last decade and thank you for welcoming Kate during her time with us. It has meant more than we can put into words.
